GWSSA Trainee Meeting, 6th December 2024
Location: the Studio, Glasgow.

We got together for a sell out conference in December and rang in the festive season with a fantastic varied day of learning, inspiration and networking. Topics included:

• EMRS and transfer – Dr Kat Bennett
• EDI and differential attainment – Dr Sonya McKinlay
• DGH paediatrics anaesthesia – Dr Tim Geary
• Sustainable environmental anaesthesia – Dr Paul McConnell
• High-risk cases and shared decision making – Dr Joe Hawkins
• Physics, pharmacology and physiology for flying at the extremes (aka Paragliding Anaesthesia) – Dr Matt Wilkes

It was brilliant to see such a range of anaesthetists enjoying the day from medical students and foundation doctors, to all 3 stages of residents, and consultants alike. The afternoon GARC team once again put on a great show of examples of the excellence in quality improvement, education and research that the region holds, and the standard of entries was exceptional.

We rounded the day off with drinks in town to catch up with each other from across the region, and start December with a bang. We hope to see you all again next year!
